Whenever you plan to catch up with family and friends, then you can be sure that there will be delicious food involved. Whether you’re hosting or bringing a plate to share, trying to cater for large numbers is a tough task. It’s great to be able to minimise the work you have to do, particularly when it comes to finger food.

The freshest and simplest finger food recipes are often the most enjoyable, probably because you actually get to eat them and socialise rather than slaving away in the kitchen. You don’t need to be delicately folding prosciutto into tiny flowers for your guests to enjoy good finger food. Nor does finger food have to mean party pies and sausage rolls.

We had a spare 5 minutes in the office the other week and our Intern Dietitian, Rebecca Shepherd, whipped up this delicious dip with some vegie sticks. It was an amazing afternoon snack and would make the perfect finger food for a party or even a work morning tea.

Rebecca used Greek yoghurt which is a rich source of protein and calcium and it’s also much lower in salt than most packaged dips. She’s added some chopped herbs and some lemon juice and voila! A healthy and filling finger food!

So when you’ve been roped into bringing a plate, try this herby yoghurt dip with vegetables for a healthy alternative to chips!
