Medicare Policy

The Healthy Eating Hub clinic offers Medicare consultations with a referral from your doctor. The Healthy Eating Hub can also bulk bill under Medicare with clients who have one of the following Chronic Disease Management reports provided by their GP:

  • A GP Management Plan (GPMP) – item 721
  • Team Care Arrangement (TCA) – item 723

Medicare Item No. 10954: Dietetic Consultation. Clients can receive up to 5 rebates of $52.95 within a 12 month period for consultations with eligible allied health practitioners. If you would like to claim for dietetic consultations through Medicare please speak to your GP.

First & Second Consultations – 1 hour

Cost: $150 for an individual or $225 for a couple (90 minutes).

Clients who receive a Medicare referral and GP Management Plan from their doctor CAN NOT bulk bill their First Consultation. Clients pay the fee in full at the time of their consultation and Medicare will rebate $52.95 directly back to the client. This occurs on the spot through our HICAPS machine.

Support Consultations – 20 minutes

Cost: Bulk Billed

Clients who receive a Medicare referral and GP Management Plan from their doctor CAN bulk bill their third, forth, and fifth consultations. For example: If the patient receives a referral for five dietetic consultations, they will pay for their first consultations and be bulk billed their remaining four.

If a client would like an InBody Composition Scan at the time of their Bulk Billed an additional 10 minutes is required to at a cost of $40.

Will this apply to all practitioners?

Medicare and private health insurer rebates are available for The Healthy Eating Hub’s Accredited Practising Dietitians; Clare Wolski, Michelle Bulman, and Melissa Yip.

As Kate Freeman is a Registered Nutritionists it is not possible to claim for individual consultations with them. Claiming is also not available for Student Consultations.

Please note: Claims for private health insurance and Medicare cannot be made for the same consultation.
